Botanical Garden Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden (Entrance)

The garden is located on a low hill about 3 km north of Worcester and comprises 154 ha of mostly natural semi-desert vegetation. Only 11 ha of the garden is landscaped. It cultivates and displays a wide variety of desert and semi-desert plants. These includes Drosanthemum, Lampranthus, Lithops, Conophytum, Drosanthemum, Lampranthus, Stapelia, Crassula and Aloe. The garden has a prolific bird life and is used extensively by the local bird club and the Wildlife Society of South Africa. Moreover, the blind are also catered for as the flora trail's plant labels are also printed in Braille. There are a number of trails to enjoy - Shale, Grysbokkie and Karoo Adventure. The Spring flowers are best enjoyed late July to late September. (Updated Apr-12).
