“The pass. was initially built in the 1700s and intermittently upgraded by the Cape Divisional Council, Bothmaskloof Pass meanders down the Kasteelberg along the tarred R46 into the fertile Riebeeck Valley below. Across the valley are the Groot Winterhoek Mountains with the higher Witzenberg mountains further on. Riebeeck Kasteel and Riebeeck West lie on the slopes of the mountain. ” - Chris Smit, 2013/10/19
