Birdwatching Bird Hide (Rocherpan 1)

The hide overlooks Rocherpan situated in the Rocherpan Nature Reserve 25 km north of Velddrif. The combination of land, marsh and marine environments provides ample breeding and feeding habitats for various birds. A total of 183 species has been recorded, of which about 70 are water birds.

Directions

From Cape Town: Take the R27 north to Velddrif. Turn NW to Laaiplek and then carry on in a NE direction along the coast road(Tar)through the coastal village of Dwarskersbos. Approximately 11.5 kms further on Rocherpan Nature Reserve will be seen on the left of the road. The bird hide is clearly marked in the Reserve.
