Three colorful, down to earth, self-catering cottages: Faraway and Orange Cottage, as well as Eric's Place, is where it all started back in 1999, with the main focus on simplicity, sustainability, and Eco-friendliness.
The cottage is off-grid, without electricity, equipped with solar geysers and gas back-up for hot water, cooking, and refrigeration.
Camping, is down by the 300 year old oak tree and consists of 8 campsites, all spread out and private. Most sites have shade or grass and water taps, but totally free of electricity and WiFi! The showers have donkey boilers or just cold spring water, the toilets are clean eco-friendly composting loos.

From Cape Town: Take the N1 past Worcester, through the Hex River Valley, and up Hex River Pass. Then the R318 right, towards Montagu. After 40km at the bottom of Rooihoogte Pass turn right at the SIMONSKLOOF sign onto a good gravel road. 2km later turn right again at the 'simonskloof 8km' sign - From here follow the little sign all the way. After heavy rains, the gravel road can be bumpy and slippery. It is however safe and accessible by normal cars. From Montagu & Route 62: Take the R318 towards Touwsrivier, Matroosberg, and Koo. After ±40km, 300m after "Oupa Batt se Winkel" farm shop with a petrol pump, take the SIMONSKLOOF turn left onto the gravel road.
