The Oude Kerk Volksmuseum, situated in the historic Church Street in Tulbagh, is one of three buildings in the museum complex. In 1969 there was an earthquake and more importance was placed on the architectural heritage and so the Oude Kerk Volksmuseum was born. The church building shows visitors the collection of Cape furniture and colonial artefacts. The Earthquake Museum (House Number 6) takes visitors on a journey through the valley's history after the earthquake and how the town of Tulbagh was rebuilt. House Number 22 is in the third house of the complex museum and is also known as the Ou Volks Museum. It is a small Cape Dutch pioneer cottage that has been restored and brings to life a quaint home and life as you would know it 200 years prior to modern times. (Updated Nov-16)
