The Diamond Coast Shipwreck Eco- Trail is situated in the north-western corner of South Africa's rugged Northern Cape is the stretch of pristine coastline aptly named The Diamond Coast. The coastline, flowing dunes and mysterious shipwrecks, opens only to a few participates who are always guided during their tours. The tour to the West Coast or Richtersveld of The Diamond Coast will vastly enhance the experience of this unique mix of coastal plain and semi-arid inland. The mysterious Diamond Coast Shipwreck Trail is within the restricted diamond mine area and commences at the Koingnaas caravan park or Noup divers huts. The trail hugs the Diamond Coast for approximately 37 km and is often challenging being both rocky and sandy. The enjoyable activities include a tour of the private game reserve where various wild animals like the springbok, gemsbok and numerous ostriches, duikers, steenbok and carnivores such as bat-eared foxes and suricates can be seen. There are also spectacular dunes and the museum where with a range of historic maps, documents and illustrations. There are also various sections within the museum like various sections deal with shipwreck history, our local fauna and flora, gemstones, mining operations of old, the early inhabitants and prehistoric man.
