Tafelkop is scenic, peaceful and quiet, but there's more than enough to keep you busy. Experience a working fruit and wine farm, with fresh and dried fruit available for sale. Bird watching is popular, with the emphasis on water birds like moorhen, fish eagles and black eagles. There's a variety of flora and fauna and typical succulent Karoo plants. This route presents a variety of challenges as it crosses different landscapes, from crossing dry riverbeds with a few big stones and puddles of water in winter, to climbing hills for extraordinary views over the Langeberge and Montagu valley. Enjoy a braai on the mountain or go for a hike before descending into gullies and valleys on your way back. There are two fully equipped self-catering chalets or B&B. Basic camping, with equipment available if required for accommodation. Visit old battle sites, or try hiking, rock climbing, horse riding. Mountain bike races are popular, and Montagu's hot springs are close by.(Information supplied by DriveOut Magazine).
