Known as the Groot Winterhoek Wilderness Area, this is situated in the Groot Winterhoek Mountain Range. Forming part of the greater Groot Winterhoek conservation area 30 608ha, the 19 200ha was declared a wilderness area in 1985. Summers are warm and moderate while winters are cold and wet which makes hiking difficult. For more information and booking visitors should contact Cape Nature Reservation office.
