Wellington is situated at the foot of the Groenberg, on the banks of the Kromme Rivier. It is also at the base of one of the oldest mountain passes in the country, Bain's Kloof Pass. The town has pleasant accommodation, and visitors to the town can discover many historic buildings and architectural treasures. The town also offers employment on the wine farms to quite a number of people. Hiking, horse riding, mountain biking or a visit some of the cellars on the wine route for a relaxed wine tasting are some of the activities not to miss in the town.

“Val du Charron Wine & Leisure Estate Val du Sharron was the original name of the Wellington valley. The French influence stems from the Huguenots who settled in the area in the early 1700’s while the reference to wagon making refers to the fact that Wellington was the last town where the Afrikaner’s ox wagons could be serviced before heading over the majestic Bainskloof in to the hinterland.” - Chris Smit, 2023/05/10
