Note that this route is extremely slow and the pass will take more than 5 hours to complete. Flash flooding may occur in the rainy season, and the tracks may be completely washed away. Rather avoid doing this pass if you are in a rush, in a single vehicle, and an inexperienced driver. (Apr-24)

Travelling over Robbies Pass (D3705) from Kaoko Otavi to Sesfontein (via Kanamub): a traveller took 5 hours to do the 5 km through the gorge, another took 6 hours. This is very difficult driving, and extremely slow rock crawling. This 5km section lies in a rocky riverbed, and will be washed away every time the river comes down in flood.
There are difficult dry riverbed crossing. Travellers in Landrovers have also reported driving this pass with great difficulty.
The more vehicles, the more slower the travelling will be. You have to be prepared to do some rock re-arrangement because the track is mainly used by donkey riders -not even donkey carts. It does not seem that this pass gets travelled very often.
The road down the western side of the mountain has some eroded river crossings up to Otjikondavirongo, from there the road via Kanamub is well travelled. (March-2010).
