This is the border between Mozambique and Malawi. Mandimba border is on the Mozambican side while Chiponde on Malawi. The two border post are separated by 5km of no man's land. Public transport is available on both borders to and from Malawi and Mozambique nearest towns. Visitors needs a passport valid for 6 months, an entry visa except if from South Africa, Malawi or Mauritius and the registration book or documents for your vehicle. Personal items are not subject to tax except when exceeding the stipulated value of USD200. Any transaction with customs should include a corresponding receipt. There is a bar, restaurant and accommodation near the border. The route EN8 to Mandimmba border from Malawi is unsurfaced and some parts of the road may require a vehicle with good ground clearance / 4x4 vehicles especially during rainy seasons. If entering Mozambique, you have to buy car insurance at the border, or you can buy it in South Africa at Outdoor Warehouse. (2014).
