From Lilongwe, head to Salima. At the big permanent police road block just before Salima, turn left onto the M5 lakeshore road. If you have come from Blantyre/Dedza/Balaka side, you will turn left off that road and head up towards the police road block then turn right onto the M5. Follow this road for approximately 280km, passing through Nkhotakota, Dwangwa and Kande. Approximately 7km after Kande, you will see a large Makuzi sign on the left hand side of the road, and a Bandawe Mission sign on the right next to a dirt road. Turn right down this dirt road and travel approximately 3.5km to Makuzi Beach. No 4x4 required. >From the north, pass through Mzuzu and travel on the only road south towards Nkhata Bay. At the permanent police roadblock at a T-Junction, turn right onto the M5 lakeshore road. Travel approximately 50km passing through small towns and eventually Chintheche. Approximately 13km after Chintheche town, you will go over the Kapeska Bridge and the Makuzi turnoff to the left is almost 500m beyond the bridge.

TRAVELLER FEEDBACK:
Reported to us by a trusted traveller to be a great venue with good food. (May-12).
Also reported that the ablutions are old but cleaned daily, and the bar and restaurant was enjoyable. (Jan-13).
Enjoy swimming in the lake! Take your own wood or charcoal along as the fire wood found in the area is not good for braai.
“An excellent venue, good food and great setting! Wish I could be there now....” - Deon Kotze, 2012/05/21
