Blantyre, located in the Southern region of the country, is the commercial city. It is the nation's financial and transport centre that also hosts the Malawi Stock Exchange. It is named after the Scotland birthplace of the explorer and missionary, Dr David Livingstone and it is one of the oldest urban centres in Eastern and Southern Africa. Its climate is nice for most of the year except for the few months of the rainy season.
