Ponta Do Ouro when translated into English means 'Pot of Gold.' The town is situated on the Southerly part of Mozambique and the town centre is just 10km from the Border with South Africa, the Kosi Bay Border Post. The town is dependent on tourism as it has some of the best unspoilt beaches and resorts in Mozambique. Only 4x4 vehicles are recommended when travelling from South African border towards Ponta Do Ouro town as the roads are still underdeveloped.

ROUTE INFO:
If travelling to Goba, expect to encounter everything, from good tar, to potholed tar, to quite a lot of soft sand, stony gravel etc. In the rainy season this route can be very tricky. Expect to travel a few hours. You also pass the Maputo Elephant Reserve, without entering it.
