The Katima Mulilo Bridge spans the Zambezi River at this point, connecting the town of Sesheke with the town of Katima Mulilo through the Sesheke / Wenela Border Post. When the bridge was completed in 2004, it formed the last link between Zambia’s Copperbelt mines and the export harbour of Walvisbay in Namibia. This greatly improved the economy in both Sesheke and Katima Mulilo, with transport vehicles using it as a regular stopover.
