The Kazungula Ferry was replaced by the completed Kazungula Bridge in 2021 - the ferry kept operating until 10 May 2021, with the bridge and a new One Stop Border Post, opening on 11 May 2021.
The motorized pontoon ferry used to operate between the border posts at Kazungula Zambia and Kazangula Botswana. It was one of the largest ferries in South Central Africa crossing the 400 m wide Zambezi River and the ferry had a capacity of 70 tonnes. The ferry crossing, about 500m long, was a fairly short trip, taking less than 10 minutes.
