Ixopo is a town located on a branch of the Mkhomazi River in the midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. It was once known as Stuartstown, after the Resident Magistrate M Stuart. he was murdered at the Battle of Ingogo in 1881. The Buddhist Retreat Center is situated in Ixopo.
