Clocolan, now called Hlohlolwane, is a small town situated in Free State province formerly called Hlohlolwane by the Basotho people which means 'get up and fight.' The name Clocolan was a result of the Basotho word mispronounced to Clocolan by the new inhabitants in 1906. This is a quiet and peaceful town situated long the R26 and close to Ficksburg which is just 34km away. Situated on the foot of Hlohlolwane mountain and the economy is driven by farming of wheat, maize, grain, potatoes and cattle rearing. For more information visit the visitor's centre in town.
