Nottingham Road is located 19 km south of Mooi River and 59 km north-west of Pietermaritzburg. It is known as the 'heart' of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Meander. The area is a popular trout fishing area. It was originally a military fort set up to protect local farmers from the indigenous San people.
