“Clarens is named after the Swiss town where President Paul Kruger, president of the ZAR, died in exile on 14 July 1904. “His historical links with the area date back to 1866, when five men of his Transvaal Commando were killed during a fight with the Basotho at Noupoortsnek”” - Chris Smit, 2024/07/03
