Lady Grey was established on the farm Waaihoek in 1856 and is a small town in the Eastern Province of South Africa. The settlement lies in the southern foothills of the Witteberge and was named after the wife of Sir George Grey, governor of the Cape Colony, Eliza Lucy Grey. In 1893 the first municipality of the town was established. This is a tranquil haven for the nature lovers with abundance of bird species and hiking trails. The area is rich in sandstone, fossil beds and San rock art. Sheep farming is the main income producing contribution to the area.
