On the Cacadu River in the Stormberg Region, the town of Cacadu (Lady Frere) was established in 1879 and named after the wife of Governor Sir Henry Bartle Frere. Back then, it acted as the administrative centre for the Glen Grey District. Now the town is within the Chris Hani District Municipality. The economic drive in this area is communal farming and small businesses. The town still have a rural setting and environment, quiet and tranquil. (June-15)
