The small holiday town is situated in the most southern coastal part of KwaZulu-Natal, bordering the Eastern Cape Province. It was formerly known as Kennington after an early resident Ken Pringle, but was later renamed Port Edward in honour of the then Prince of Wales, Edward. It is known for lush sub tropical gardens, banana plantations, rocky beaches with sandy patches and beautiful bays. It is a very popular tourist spot with accommodation ranging from luxury Hotels, B&B places to self catering flats. Furthermore it has an interesting history filled with stories of battles, also visit the coffee estates, arts and craft markets or one of the many excellent restaurants.
