KwaMaqoma (Fort Beaufort) is a town within the Amatole District, Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is situated on the banks of the Kat River, surrounded by the majestic Katberg and Amatola mountain ranges. A historical town dating back to 1822, with historical buildings and attractions worth visiting, founded as a mission station when a Martello tower was built to withstand opposition in the eighth Frontier War.
