Fouriesburg is situated within the Free State Province of South Africa. It is a border town just 12km to the border with Lesotho. The town is surrounded by Maluti, Rooiberg and Witteberg mountain range and falls within the Dihlabeng Local Municipality. Founded in 1892, the town was named after Christoffel Fourie who was a local a farmer. This place was one of the the Anglo Boer forces strongholds.
