The Spioenkop Battlefield is located near Ladysmith. It was one of the bloodiest and most futile battles of the South African War between 1899 - 1902. There was also a series narrated by the battlefields historian Raymond Heron about the Spioenkop Battle. It was General Buller's second attempt to relieve the town of Ladysmith.
