The Battle of Schuinshoogte, also known as the Battle of Ingogo, occurred during the First Boer War on 8 February 1881. It took place north of Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. British forces, led by General Sir George Pomeroy Colley, faced Boer patrols led by Commander J. D. Weilbach. Despite heavy casualties, the British managed to escape with horses and guns during a rainstorm. The Boers' failure to capture the British guns was a significant error in the war.
