Komdomo is situated at the entrance to the Grootrivier Poort and forms the Eastern entrance to the Baviaanskloof conservation area. It is the only terrain accessible to caravan camping in the kloof. It is a flat, narrow kilometre long stretch of land on the Eastern banks of the Grootrivier. There are 17 Caravan/ tent sites which are level, well grassed with ample shade trees. There is the Keepers house, and an ablution block. LP gas generated hot water but no electricity. The name Baviaans (Dutch) refers to baboons, which are plentiful in the area and care should be taken not to leave foodstuffs unattended or open. The ranger in charge, assured me that one could camp there in safety, leaving possessions there in order to explore the Baviaanskloof to Willowmore.

Directions

90 km from Jeffries Bay through Hankey and Patensie on good tarred roads. The last 3 km to Komdomo is fairly rough gravel which will have to be taken slowly with a caravan.

All visitors to the Baviaanskloof please note that there is no petrol or diesel available in the Baviaanskloof any more. It is recommended that visitors to the Kloof fill up at the 24hr Zaaymans Engen Garage in Willowmore or in Patensie.
