In isiZulu 'Amajuba' means 'place of doves' named so by the legendary Zulu King Shaka. The memorial graves serves as a reminder of the 1881 Boer War battle in which the Boers defeated the British.

From the R23 in Volksrust, turn right onto the Durban/Newcastle road at the town hall drive 8 km out of Volksrust, there should be a sign for Amajuba. Turn right onto the Kwaggasnek road.
