“Gubu dam lies on a gravel road halfway between Keiskamma Hoek and Stutterheim. It is 100km from East London., The dam in the Gubu river is approximately 108 Hectares in size(8.5 million cubic meters capacity) and is stocked annually with both Rainbow and Brown Trout. Gubu is the name of the stream that has its source at the base of Mt. Thomas and the name of the valley in which the dam was built. Gubu is a Xhosa name for a "drum" made of skin.” - Chris Smit, 2009/12/16
