There are 4 mind-blowing 4x4 trails from here:
1. Old Mill Drift 4x4 trail: quite extreme, a grade 4 that goes over the mountain to Rebellie. This trail is about about 45 to 50km from the farm over the mountain to Rebellie and Bokpoort, then left just before Clarens and back to farm.
2. The Monansa Border Post grade 3 to 4 goes over the Caledon river about 3 or 4 times – no bridges, natural river crossing and out at Monansa border post, so you will need passports to exit. A 154km round trip back to Clarens and to the farm.
3. To “Worlds End” (named by farm owners) which if you carry on straight past where you turn left to Rebellie, takes you over the mountains to where you can go no further. Is probably a grade 3, in the region of about a 4 - 5 hr drive to the end and back to the farm.
4. The Pilgrims Rest is a beautiful easy scenic drive for beginners from here across 5 other farms to where the road crosses over the river (the start of the trail to Rebellie and Monansa) where folk can stop just before crossing over the river to an idyllic picnic spot - a really beautiful site.
5. The Old Mill route is a level 5 course on the farm and another one not quite as technical.
There is also a 4x4 training course.
Various accommodation options are available, from chalets to camping.

“There is nothing but abandoned buildings at the start of the trail. No reception, camp site or picnic area as indicated on T4A. The route is still visible but it is clear that it is not used often. Loading the track on a GPS is advisable. Quite challenging in places with loose rock and a few sharp switch backs and some very narrow places. But the views are spectacular!” - Hennie Marx, 2014/06/04
