Conservation Thathe Vondo Sacred Forest

Holy Forest Reserve is part of the Thathe Vondo Forest. The Holy forest there also lie Mount Thathe. In this forest and mountain lies ancestral spirits and burial site of the royals /local chiefs and the forest is protected by the Nethane ' a half man and half lion creature.' These graves are hidden in caves, under large boulders The forest have huge yellowwood trees, plants and creepers which makes it challenging to walk through it. The holy forest area have cultural taboos and the Venda's and visitors not allowed to walk near the burial sites and walking in the forest should be in the accompanied by a guard and should stay on the road. .
