It is said that in the early 1900's and old chief lived in this area, and wore bright maroon belts of the British army uniform, and was known as 'Father of the belt', hence the name 'Ramabanta'. Ramabanta has become a popular tourist destination and functions as a trading centre. Accommodation is available at the Ramabanta Trading Post Lodge. Campers and backpackers are also catered for. Various adventures are offered in this area, namely challenging off-road trails, hiking in the Lesotho mountains and valleys or trekking on horseback.
