“Quthing is a town 53 km south-east of Mohale’s Hoek in Lesotho. The name is of San origin and derived from "Phuthing", "land of the Baphuthi". The district of Quthing was previously known as Morosi’s Country. Named after the Basotho chief Maroosi, who terrorised the colonists until 20 November 1878, when his mountain stronghold was overrun and he was killed.” - Chris Smit, 2025/07/21
