Though part of the mighty Masokotwani Area, Makolonga is one stronghold of the masokotwani area to an extent that it has won its own popularity over the years. Makolonga is mostly proud to host one of the big and treasured forests of all time, the Kanama thick forest with a subsiding Ikalo water channel (previously a river). To the West of the area is the fruit rich area called ISEKE lye NDAZILA meaning 'the dirty sand'. Makolonga is about 10km from its mother area masokotwani and thus accommodates toddlers and primary going kids to the Makolonga primary school that is going up to grade 4. The school enrolment in the past 3 years could support the school with an upper primary phase, hence was going up to grade 7. This is a prominent and upcoming area within masokotwani and has a high growth potential in development activities/projects and education. In the whole of Caprivi, Makolonga hosts the most powerful entertainment and social club by the name ARIZONAH YOUTH CLUB which gathers together youths of all its sub villages to a come-together Christmas and New Year feast. This club has attracted a lot of people to this area and has thus gained recognition and good reputation.
