There is an FNB bank in the town for all the financial transactions. It has VISA facilities.

“Wakkerstroom. In 1859 a new town was established on the South-Eastern boundary of the Transvaal Republic. The area was known as Wakkerstroom. The town was named Marthinus Wessel Stroom, but this name was unpopular and cumbersome. By popular usage, it reverted to Wakkerstroom.” - Chris Smit, 2024/06/13
