“Boksburg From the beginning of 1887, many prospectors moved to the East Rand. Not much gold was found, but the government farm, Vogelfontein became a convenient site from which to administer the East Rand gold fields. A town developed there and in 1887 it was named Boksburg after Eduard Bok, the Attorney General of the Republic.” - Chris Smit, 2024/06/13
