Kisoro is located in the southwest corner of Uganda bordering the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. The town is known for its beautiful land of steep hills, towering volcanoes, serpentine lakes, and its main attraction, the mountain gorillas. Many tourists visiting the city come to view the mountain gorillas, critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, disease, and war.

Kisoro town is a slightly larger town which has a bigger police presence and a good quality hospital. A variety of banks and ATM’s can be found.
