Gitarama, the second largest city in Rwanda, is situated in Muhanga District, in the Southern Province. The town is home to the Gitarama Prison, one of the most terrifying prisons in Africa. Built to confine 400, now has over 6000 prisoners. Gitarama city's main tourist attraction include the Genocide memorial and mass grave. There are several memorial and mass graves found in Rwanda, honoring those victims who died during the Rwandan Genocide Mass Slaughter. (Sep-15)
