The Shell museum dates back to 1945 when it was started by Charlotte Kritzinger as his hobby which eventually become one of the most interesting and largest shell collection to become a museum. He collected shells till his death in 1965.
The Shell museum have over 600 collections of different shells species from all over the world making it one of the largest shell collections in South Africa. These shells are housed in glass cases. There are local shells can be purchased just outside the museum from the shell shops and stalls.
Onsite there is also the tourism office and shell booth. .
