Beaverlac Nature a Reserve, a Natural Heritage Site, lies 25 km north of Porterville, roughly 180 km north of Cape Town, in the Olifants River Mountains of the Cederberg. There are beautiful specimens of fynbos, naturally occurring waterfalls and rock pools in the 5 000 hectares of wilderness. One of the best walks in the reserve, is the Leopard Trail. Dogs are allowed if kept under control. Day visitors no longer allowed. (Jul-18).

From Cape town, take the N7 north to Piketberg (About 130km) Then take the R44 to Porterville (26 km) At the T junction just before Porterville, turn left onto a tar road. After 3 kms, turn right onto a gravel road to Beaverlac (20 Kms).
