Wriggleswade Dam lies in the Kubusi river 20km east of Stutterheim and 70km northeast of East London in the Eastern Province of South Africa. It has a capacity of 91.5 million cubic metres and is fairly deep, meandering through farmlands with steep hills on each side for about 15 km. The dam forms part of the Amatola regional water supply scheme and supplies water from the Kubusi River catchment into the Gonubie, Nahoon and Yellowwoods (which flows into the Buffalo) Rivers. The Nahoon Dam and Laing Dam can be augmented with water from Wriggleswade when required. These dams deliver water to the East London and Berlin areas. The water is very clear and Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass and Carp can be caught. Good launching facilities are available. There are also well kept camping sites with electrical points. Entrance fees are: R25.00 per adult and R15.00 per child under 18yrs. This includes a fee for electricity for campers. The venue is reputed to be secure and safe. Wriggleswade is the venue of the annual Amatola Bass Classic held in February each year.
