There is a border post off the main street in Kasane on the river bank that deals with all border, customs and immigration functions necessary for visits to Impalila Island which is across the river in Namibia.
Access to the island is for lodge guests only and they are taken across the river in small power boats.
There is secure parking in the grounds of the Immigration office and guests are transported from there to Namibian Immigration, which is on Impalila Island, by small boats. The boat trip takes about 15 minutes.
At the end of their stay on Impalila Island they are brought back via the same boats after exiting Namibian Immigration and then they re-enter Botswana at the same office in Kasane. There is also an airstrip on Impalila Island for access by air.
