Dinokeng Game Reserve covers an area of approximately 18500 ha and was officially opened in September 2011 when the four of the big 5 were introduced into the reserve. Today it is the only game reserve within the Gauteng province that hosts the big 5.
Trees are predominantly Acacia species and mixed bushveld while the grasses are mainly sweet grasses such as Fingergrass. Roads are well developed and maintained. To date the reserve offers self-drive, guided game drive or accommodation at the various privately owned lodges in the reserve.
You require a permit for the self-drive route, valid for one day. It can be obtained at any entrance gate or at the various overnight accommodation facilities inside the reserve. The openings/closing times are dependent on the different seasons of the year (check the internet). No pets allowed.
They are changing from paying upon exit, to pay on or before arrival! Please remember that they are a cashless facility. (NO CASH ACCEPTED). To pay your conservation fees and purchase self-drive permits before you arrive. Please print out your ticket at home or have it ready on your phone when you arrive.
