In the urban suburb of Pretoria, 76ha of oasis awaits city dwellers to escape from the daily routine. 50ha of these is devoted to developed garden, consisting almost completely out of South African plants. The Head Office of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) can also be found at these gardens, along with a restaurant, tea garden and gift shop. The Pretoria National Botanical Gardens also hosts events, such as the Green Christmas Night Market.
