In 1839 when the Cape Colony government was first create, Cape Metro Municipality only covered the central part of the city known as the City Bowl. Today it also covers the Cape Point in the south-west, Somerset West in the south-east, and Atlantis in the north, as well as Robben Island. (May-16)
