Rumonge is situated on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Burundi it is in the Rumonge Province and is also the capital. It is almost 70km from Burundi's capital city. The population was estimated in 2008 as 35931 making it Burundi's fourth largest city. Before Burundi's independence in 1962 it had a big Arab presence.
