Start/End Outeniqua Hiking Trail is situated within the Goldfield State Forest. The trail is an 8 days, 108 km hike which start at Beervlei near George and ends at Diepwalle. Start of the trail is at Hut 1, the Beervlei, where hikers can park their vehicles. The trail follows a linear format, is tough and multiday hike that only the physically fit and novice hikers should embark. The scenery is spectacular changing from forest area and natural woodlands, with no well defined routes or tracks. The route can be slippery when it rains or snow and good shoes with grips should be readily available. However, hikers do not need to hike the whole route for 7 days, 2 or 3 days are allowed. A maximum of twenty four hikers at a time are permitted to hike the trail. The trail ends at Harkerville at Hut 8, there is water and electricity here, but vehicles are not allowed to b e parked at the hut, rather at Harkerville Forest Station.
