A very welcoming community nestled in the breathtaking scenic hills of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - located half way between Nkuringo and Rushaga (Gorilla Trekking gates). It is filled with an extraordinary number of endemic birds, easy access to endless hiking trails of all difficulty levels.

Kisoro town is a slightly larger town which is about 40 mins to an hour away, which has a bigger police presence and a good quality hospital. Kisoro Town has wifi internet café’s with 3G service – we travel here for our own internet needs – basic websites will load in Rubuguri and we receive emails / texts / messages etc – booking flights for example and attaching files to emails tends to be tedious(Oct-2017).

Notes on Activities :  Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Mountain Gorilla Trekking - Hike from South side of Bwindi (Nkuringo) to North side of Bwindi (Bahoma). Scenic hikes to viewing points of the Virunga Range / waterfalls / Bwindi. 25 endemic bird species to locate along the trails or within small pocket forests around the area. (Some activities may be offered nearby).

BANKING & FOREX:
Karungi Camp can typically provide money exchange services for USD, an official Forex is in Kisoro Town. A variety of banks and ATM’s can be found in Kisoro Town.

CELLPHONE RECEPTION:
Good for calls, very slow/bad for internet usage.

FUEL:
There is no diesel. (Oct-2017).
Kisoro Town - Petrol is 3,600 UGX / L, diesel is available, gas refills are available (Total brand). (Oct-2017).

RESTAURANT:
Karungi Camp: Is the only place in Rubuguri, that has a restaurant on site that serves the local community and our international travellers. (Oct-2017).

SHOPS & SERVICES:
Hospital: none.
Internet Cafe: none.
Liquor/Wine Sales: At Karungi Camp.
Mechanics/Tyres: Tyres for car’s will need to come from Kabale (almost 2 hours from Rubuguri, 1 hour from Kisoro) but there are mechanics available in Kisoro to provide car services.
Tourist info: At Nkuringo.
