The Prieska Poort is a minor pass of 5,3 km with an altitude gain of only 44 meters. It is a tarred road with no sharp corners and presents no dangers at the speed limit or lower. After many kilometres of arrow straight driving through the thirstlands of the Northern Cape, the Prieska Poort is a welcome feature and a sign of your imminent arrival at the town of Prieska (10 km) and the life-giving waters of the Orange River (now called the Gariep River).
